At this time of year we often wonder what the next 12 months will bring. This year though why not ask what you can bring to 2018!
‘The future is both created and negotiable.’ – Steve De Shazer
Whether its a new and positive outlook, new habits or hobbies or even a new way of dealing with difficulties you have the ability to colour your year in whatever way you would like.
My 6 tips for making changes and keeping positive in 2018
If you’re looking to make lasting changes then a long term direction is great but how about some small achievable goals along the way to keep you on track.
Remember to be flexible – We can’t control everything that happens to us but we can often be pleasantly surprised if things don’t quite go our way but we are open to new opportunities.
Keep Learning – Learning an instrument, a language or just about ourselves can help us keep our brains active and give us lots of dopamine rewards.
Be Creative – Look for solutions to problems rather than dwelling on what’s not working.
Be Social – It might feel like a hard slog sometimes but engaging with people helps us to feel valued, boosts our oxytocin, allows to experience new things and gives us a healthy support network when times are tough.
Be Active – Walking, running, ice skating… find something you enjoy and do it as much as you can.
