Your Hypnotherapy Session
So… What happens in session?

We start with an initial consultation. This gives you a chance to meet me and ensures you get a full explanation of the process. It also gives me a chance to ask you about your expectations and get a detailed picture to work with. The initial consultation lasts about 45 minutes and whilst there is no trance you’ll leave with a greater understanding of ‘why we do the things we do’, an appointment for the next week and a support CD.
A standard session might begin with me asking ‘What’s been good about your week?’ and talking to you about the concrete positive changes you are already making. This means you’re creating new positive habits and re-framing your experience of daily life. We’ll then look back at the reasons these ‘good things’ have such an impact and the importance of the happy chemicals they produce. I practice a ‘Solution Focused’ approach so whilst we acknowledge the past and learn from it we are more concerned with helping you move towards your goals and visions. It’s during this part of the session that we do just that. I help you to build upon your resources and to move forward at your own pace and in a safe and non judgemental space.
Next we get you nice and relaxed on the couch. Using metaphor and language patterns we create a positive and relaxing intervention in your day or week. Trance, hypnosis, internal focus or whatever you’d like to call it, is a guided journey that helps you to a deeply relaxing place that most if not all of us have access to. You may have been driving somewhere (safely) but not remembered all those movements it took or even the route. You may get lost in a good read and hours seem like minutes. It’s important to note here that whilst you are very relaxed you’re not asleep and you can open your eyes whenever you wish. You won’t be asked to divulge any secrets or turned into a chicken. It’s here that I use positive affirmations and give you the space to go over the positive things we’ve discussed and help you find a diffused way of thinking about an issue to come up with unexpected answers or to build that confidence or belief in yourself that you’re looking for.
Sessions usually finish with a sense of calm and relaxation. Clients often talk about the great nights sleep they get after a session and with use of the support CD this in itself can really help to boost how positively we go about our days.
