Where to begin?
I think that if you’re going to learn to drive that the person teaching you should have driven at least once before. Probably more… Obvious really and that’s before I look at their qualifications and reviews.
Hypnotherapy is no different. How can I hope to show you its benefits without having felt them myself? How can I understand stress or anxiety without having seen what a mess it can make?
As you can imagine hypnotherapy is not a natural career progression. And, when my childhood dream of being a clown faded I had to take a long hard look at where I wanted to be. After a Masters in Leeds and a trip to the bright lights (and long commutes) of London to work in the media I made it to Manchester and was, for want of a better word, frazzled.
Years of just about coping came crashing down on me and I needed some help. That’s when my wife found Anxiety UK – and I experienced hypnotherapy first hand.
Chatting in a safe space was great and whilst talking about my traumatic past may have helped garner a little perspective what I found most useful was the rapport I had with the therapist and my new-found curiosity for all things hypnotic.
It was then that I discovered ‘solution focused hypnotherapy’ and this is where the real changes started.
I learnt not only about helping others with anxiety but also about my brain and how I can use my anxiety as my superpower – Helping me to read people, to engage with them and ultimately helping them to get to their own vision of the future.
A few years later and I’m working out of ‘the snug’ in my back garden, helping people like yourself do some amazing things and have a tiny child and a cat keeping me on my toes.
That future that I really couldn’t even imagine has improved me in ways I couldn’t have predicted – and all it took was setting off.
The Qualifications bit.
I trained in Manchester with the Clifton Practice where I received my Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, Hypnotherapy Practitioners Diploma and my level 5 Solution Focused Supervisor qualification – verified by the NCH and the NCFE.
I am also a registered member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH), the Complimentary & Natural Healthcare Council, have an enhanced DBS certificate for working with vulnerable adults and children. And I’m professionally insured by Holistic Services Insurance.
